Frequently Asked Questions

  • Does electrolysis hurt?
Everyone perceives the sensations associated with electrolysis differently, but for most people, any discomfort caused by treatment can be alleviated with over the counter pain management medications or topical numbing cream. Please discuss pain management options with your electrologist if it is something you want to pursue.
  • How many appointments will I need?
Unfortunately there is no one size fits all answer to this question. Every person has a unique combination of genetics and biochemistry, and this will impact how quickly you respond to treatment. Electrolysis takes time, but the results are permanent, so consider it an investment for the benefit of your future self.
  • How long will my appointment be?
Standard appointments can range from 15 minutes to 4 hours in length, based on how much hair needs to be removed, how long you can comfortably sit for treatment and your personal scheduling constraints. We also offer specially scheduled appointments up to 8 hours in length for clients looking to make their electrolysis journey as efficient as possible. If you are interested in this service, we do recommend scheduling a 4 hour appointment before scheduling any longer appointments to ensure you can comfortably sit for treatment for such long periods of time.
  • What payment methods do you accept?
We currently accept card and cash payments. Credit card payments are processed online through JaneApp, allowing you to set up your payment information once and never worry about it again! Cash payments require you to bring cash to your appointments, but allow you to save the tax .
  • How much does electrolysis cost?
Unfortunately there is no way to know how many treatments you will need in an area to achieve permanent hairlessness, but any progress you make is progress you keep because once a hair follicle has been destroyed, there is no way for the body to create a new one. If you are interested in electrolysis and concerned about cost, please Contact Us to schedule a complementary consultation. The test patch we clear during your consultation will provide insight into how much time it will take to clear the whole area as well as how much of a decrease in density you can personally expect following a treatment. For more information about the cost of individual appointments, please visit our Services page.
  • Do you offer direct billing?
At this point, we do not offer direct billing, but if you are eligible for electrolysis coverage through your insurance provider, the email receipt you receive after your appointment contains all the information your insurance company should need to process your reimbursement.
  • What is your Cancelation Policy
Your appointment time is reserved just for you. A late cancellation or missed appointment leaves a hole in your electrologist's day that another patient could have filled. As such, cancellation within 48 hours of your scheduled appointment fall under our late cancelation policy. Clients who provide less than 48 but more than 24 hours' notice will be charged 50% of their appointment fee, and Clients who provide less than 24 hours' notice will be charged in full for their appointment to the card on file.
  • How do I schedule a consultation?
You can request a consultation via email, text or phone call. Please include your name, contact information and hair removal goals in your request and we will get back to you as soon as possible to schedule an appointment. peloelectrolysis@gmail.com 604-839-8224
  • How Long is a Consultation?
We schedule 30 minute consultations to ensure we have ample time to discuss your treatment goals, assess your hair, clear a sample patch, and discuss the treatment process.
  • Are Consultations Complementary?
Yes! Consultations are always complementary. This allows us to determine if we can help you achieve your goals, and allows you to decide if we are the right fit for you without any financial pressure.
  • Can I skip the consultation and just book an appointment?
Yes, but if you are new to electrolysis it is not recommended. By scheduling a consultation before a full appointment you get the chance to decide if you want to apply numbing cream before future appointments, how long you think you could comfortably sit for a clearing and how your skin responds to treatment. Consultations also allow me to make any necessary adjustments to your next treatment based on how your test patch responded during your consultation and optimize your results.
  • How Long Will the Treatment Area Take to Heal?
Every person has a unique combination of genetics and biochemistry that determine your skins response to treatment and how long you will take to heal. Following all the aftercare instructions is the best way to minimize healing time and maximize treatment outcome.
  • How do I Take Care of my Treatment Area?
Follow the 7 S's of aftercare: Avoid sun, swimming, saunas, sweat, sex (Brazilian only) & scrubbing for 72 hours after treatment and remember to soak/ compress the area. Your electrologist will go into more detail about aftercare best practices during your consultation.
